नई दिल्ली | [स्पोर्ट्स बुलेटिन] | बर्मिंघम में हो रहे राष्ट्रमंडल खेल 2022 (Commonwealth Games 2022) में भारतीय महिला ‘फोर्स’ लॉन बॉल टीम ने मंगलवार को फाइनल मैच में दक्षिण अफ्रीका को हराकर भारत को इस खेल का पहला राष्ट्रमंडल स्वर्ण पदक दिलाया। भारत का बर्मिंघम राष्ट्रमंडल खेल 2022 में यह चौथा स्वर्ण और कुल 10वां पदक है।
भारत राष्ट्रमंडल खेल 2022 में अब तक 4 स्वर्ण, 3 रजत और 3 कांस्य सहित 10 पदक जीत चुका है। रूपा रानी टिर्की, पिंकी, लवली चौबे और नयनमोनी सैकिया की फोर्स टीम दक्षिण अफ्रीका को 17-10 से मात दी। भारत ने इससे पहले राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में लॉन बॉल में एक भी पदक नहीं जीता था।
3 एंड की समाप्ति के बाद दक्षिण अफ्रीका 2-1 से आगे चल रही थी, लेकिन भारत ने चौथे एंड की समाप्ति पर 2-2 की बराबरी कर ली और फिर पीछे मुड़कर नहीं देखा। हर एंड के साथ भारत अपनी बढ़त में इजाफा करता गया। 7 एंड के बाद भारत ने 8-2 की बढ़त बना ली थी।
दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने इसके बाद वापसी करते हुए अगले 4 राउंड में 9 पॉइंट लिये और 11वें एंड में दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने भारत पर 10-8 की बढ़त बना ली। इससे पहले कि मैच हाथ से निकलता, भारतीय महिलाओं ने 12वें, 13वें और 14वें एंड में 7 पॉइंट की विशाल छलांग लगाते हुए दक्षिण अफ्रीका को 15-10 से पीछे छोड़ दिया। 15वें और आखिरी एंड में दक्षिण अफ्रीका को जीतने के लिये 6 पॉइंट हासिल करने थे लेकिन ऐसा हो न सका और भारत ने अपने स्कोर में 2 पॉइंट और जोड़ते हुए मैच 17-10 पर समाप्त किया।

इस ऐतिहासिक जीत में भारतीय टीम की अगुवाई लवली ने की जो झारखंड पुलिस में कॉन्सटेबल हैं, जबकि रांची में रहने वाली रूपा रानी टर्किी राज्य के खेल विभाग में काम करती हैं। टीम की तीसरी खिलाड़ी पिंकी नई दिल्ली के आरके पुरम में दिल्ली पब्लिक स्कूल की खेल टीचर हैं। उन्होंने दिल्ली में हुए राष्ट्रमंडल खेल 2010 से लॉन बॉल खेलना शुरू किया था, और वह तब से हर राष्ट्रमंडल खेल में भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रही हैं।
नयनमोनी सैकिया असम के एक काश्तकार परिवार से आती हैं और राज्य के वन विभाग में कार्यरत हैं। इन चारों खिलाड़ियों ने इतिहास रचते हुए लॉन बॉल फोर्स प्रतियोगिता में भारत को पहला राष्ट्रमंडल पदक दिलाया है।
CWG 2022: Indian women’s team wins historic gold medal in lawn ball, India’s 4th gold in Birmingham Commonwealth Games
New Delhi | [Sports Bulletin] | In the Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham, the Indian women’s ‘Force’ lawn ball team won India’s first Commonwealth gold medal in the sport by defeating South Africa in the final match on Tuesday. This is India’s fourth gold and 10th overall medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
India has so far won 10 medals including 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze in Commonwealth Games 2022. Force team of Roopa Rani Tirkey, Pinky, Lovely Choubey and Nayanmoni Saikia beat South Africa 17-10. India had not won a single medal in lawn ball in the Commonwealth Games before this.
South Africa were leading 2–1 at the end of the 3rd end, but India drew 2–2 at the end of the 4th end and there was no looking back. With every end, India continued to increase its lead. After the 7th end, India took an 8-2 lead.
South Africa then came back to take 9 points in the next 4 rounds and in the 11th end, South Africa took a 10-8 lead over India. Before the match got out of hand, the Indian women made huge jumps of 7 points in the 12th, 13th and 14th ends to beat South Africa 15-10. In the 15th and last end, South Africa had to get 6 points to win but this could not happen and India ended the match 17-10 adding 2 more points to their score.

In this historic victory, the Indian team was led by Lovely, who is a constable in Jharkhand Police, while Roopa Rani, who lives in Ranchi, works in the sports department of the Turkish state. The third player in the team is Pinky, a sports teacher at Delhi Public School in RK Puram, New Delhi. She started playing lawn ball at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, and has been representing India in every Commonwealth Games since then.
Nayanmoni Saikia comes from a farming family in Assam and is working in the state forest department. These four players have created history and won India’s first Commonwealth medal in lawn ball force competition.
