हाल के वर्षों में मीडिया की भूमिका बदली है। स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष पत्रकारिता का घोर अभाव है। समाज का ध्रुवीकरण करने के लिए मीडिया के बड़े पैमाने पर दुरुपयोग ने स्थिति को बदतर बना दिया है। लोकतंत्र में त्रुटियों और गलत कामों को उजागर करने के लिए एक प्रहरी के रूप में मीडिया की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण है। मीडिया लोगों को किसी भी विषय पर समाचारों पर चर्चा और बहस करने के लिए मंच प्रदान करता है। विभिन्न पृष्ठभूमि के लोगों की यह बातचीत समाज में नागरिक जुड़ाव को मजबूत करती है।
फेक न्यूज कोई नई घटना नहीं है जो सोशल मीडिया के उदय से जुड़ी है। फर्जी खबरों के उभरते खतरे का चुनावी चक्र पर अभूतपूर्व प्रभाव पड़ सकता है, जो लोकतांत्रिक चुनावों की अखंडता, नीति-निर्माण और बड़े पैमाने पर हमारे समाज के बारे में गंभीर सवाल उठा सकता है। कम्प्यूटेशनल प्रचार सोशल मीडिया नेटवर्क पर भ्रामक जानकारी को उद्देश्यपूर्ण रूप से वितरित करने के लिए एल्गोरिदम, स्वचालन और मानव क्यूरेशन का उपयोग है।
प्रतिस्पर्धी हितों को संतुलित करने में असमर्थ मीडिया कंपनियां लाभ की पूंजीवादी प्रेरणाओं के साथ राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा चिंताओं को संतुलित करने में असमर्थ रही हैं। आधी अधूरी राय से दर्शकों की संख्या बढ़ाने के लिए मीडिया एंकर बिना जिम्मेदारी के कानून और व्यवस्था और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के मामलों पर टिप्पणी कर सकते हैं। विपरीत विचारों के प्रति असहिष्णुता अंतर्निहित पत्रकारिता या मीडिया की सबसे आम आलोचनाओं में से एक यह है कि जहां लोग केवल उन दृष्टिकोणों को देखते हैं जिनसे वे सहमत होते हैं और हमें ध्रुवीकरण के लिए अलग करते हैं।

सनसनीखेज रिपोर्टिंग ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट के दिशानिर्देशों के बावजूद बलात्कार पीड़ितों और बचे लोगों की पहचान से समझौता किया। फेक न्यूज, पीत पत्रकारिता महत्वपूर्ण चिंताएं हैं जो जनता को प्रभावित कर रही हैं और राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा को प्रभावित कर रही हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, मीडिया के माध्यम से भय फैलाने से मॉब लिंचिंग, प्रवासी आबादी पर हमले हुए हैं।
भारत जैसे विकासशील देशों में, जातिवाद और सांप्रदायिकता जैसे पिछड़े विचारों से लड़ने और गरीबी और अन्य सामाजिक बुराइयों के खिलाफ संघर्ष में लोगों की मदद करने के लिए मीडिया की एक बड़ी जिम्मेदारी है। इसलिए, पत्रकारिता नैतिकता का होना बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हो जाता है।

Media facing the lack of free and fair journalism
The role of the media has changed in recent years. There is a severe lack of independent and impartial journalism. The rampant misuse of media to polarize the society has made the situation worse. The role of media as a watchdog is important in a democracy to expose errors and wrongdoings. Media provides a platform for people to discuss and debate news on any topic. This interaction of people from different backgrounds strengthens civic engagement in the society.
Fake news is not a new phenomenon associated with the rise of social media. The looming menace of fake news can have an unprecedented impact on the electoral cycle, raising serious questions about the integrity of democratic elections, policy-making and our society at large. Computational propaganda is the use of algorithms, automation, and human curation to purposefully distribute misleading information on social media networks.
Media companies unable to balance competing interests have been unable to balance national security concerns with capitalist motivations for profit. Media anchors can comment on matters of law and order and national security without any responsibility to increase viewership with half-incomplete opinions. Intolerance to opposite views One of the most common criticisms of implicit journalism or media is that where people only see the points of view they agree with and isolates us to polarization.
With the advent of social media, technological changes, the reach of media has increased significantly. Its reach and role in influencing public opinion have made it all the more important.
Sensational reporting compromised the identity of rape victims and survivors despite Supreme Court guidelines. Fake news, yellow journalism are important concerns affecting the public and affecting national security. For example, spreading fear through the media has led to mob lynchings, attacks on migrant populations.
In developing countries like India, media has a great responsibility to fight backward ideas like casteism and communalism and to help people in the struggle against poverty and other social evils. Therefore, having journalistic ethics becomes very important.
