New Delhi | [Court Bulletin] | The petition was filed by 8 Delhi University students challenging the notification issued by the university on February 11, 2022, which stated that the examination for even semester students in semesters 4 and 6 would be conducted offline while for semesters 2 Students will appear for OBE exam online.

Delhi University will conduct the 2022 examinations for the second and third year students as per the schedule. As the Delhi High Court has dismissed the petition challenging the conduct of the offline examination.

After hearing the petition, Justice Rekha Palli set aside the order on behalf of the Delhi High Court. “This is not the right time to pass any order. However, the court has given liberty to the petitioners to approach the court again if there is any change in the circumstances,” he said.

The petition was filed with Delhi University students taking to social media and even reaching out to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan seeking to conduct OBE exams for all.

The petition, filed by the students, challenged the notification and termed it “totally arbitrary, illegal and unfair” taking into account the prevailing situation. The petitioners argued that it was not appropriate to conduct offline examinations in May as online classes continued, despite the resumption of physical classes for all.

The petition not only challenged the notification, but it also asked the University of Delhi to conduct the examination for all semesters through OBE mode, the open book examination, which is conducted online.

Delhi University is about to start the May June Semester 2022 examination for most of its courses from May 11, 2022. The date sheet has been made available for the students and the exam will be conducted as per the preliminary guidelines and schedule.
