 परिचय– विजयपुरा, कर्नाटक

कुछ घाव इतने सालों के पश्चात् फिर से हरे हो रहे थे, जब प्रेरणा एक कलेक्टर के रुप में साक्षात्कार दे रहीं हैं। एंकर उससे पूछती हैं “आपने अपने वैवाहिक संबंध को क्यूं तोड़ा है?? अर्थात क्या आपके जीवन में रिश्तों से भी ज्यादा महत्व अधिकार को है??

वह सोच में डूब गई शायद उसे यह पद विद्रोह के परिणाम के रूप में मिला था। जिस अतीत से वह छुटकारा पाकर आगे बढ़ते जा रही थी उस घाव पर बार बार प्रहार होता रहता था। कभी धर्म तो कभी समाज के आड़ में उसके विद्रोह पर तानों के बाण चलते रहते।

प्रेरणा का जीवन संघर्ष के अग्निकुंड में तप कर निखर चुका था। प्रेरणा एक मासूम लड़की पारिवारिक नीतियों में उलझकर बचपन के स्वर्गीय जीवन से दूर हो जाती है। खेलने कूदने के उम्र में प्रेरणा की शादी उससे बीस साल बढ़े लड़के से करवा दिया जाता है।

बकायदा एक शर्त पर की उसकी उच्चतर शिक्षा पूर्ण होते हि उसे ससुराल भेजा जायेगा। इन सब बातों से अनजान प्रेरणा मनमुक्त जीवन जीती रहती हैं। बचपन में ही मंगलसूत्र का धागा उसके गले में बंध जाता है।

स्कूल से लौटी प्रेरणा मां से पूछती है “मां यह जो मेरे गले में धागा बंधा है वह मेरे सहेली के गले में क्यूं नहीं है?? रोशन काकी कह रही थी, मैं शादीशुदा हूं। खेलना कूदना मुझे शोभा नहीं देता है। बोलो ना मां में क्यूं नहीं खेल सकती।”

मां अपनी 10 साल की मासूम बेटी को समझाती है “मेरी गुड़िया रानी सब लड़कियों से अलग है। तुम सौभाग्यशाली हो बिटिया रानी जो इतनी छोटी उम्र में सुहागन का भाग्य मिला है।”

प्रेरणा के पल्ले कुछ नहीं पड़ता है। वह गुड़िया लेकर खेलने चली जाती है। शाम में पिता के संग मंदिर जाने के लिए प्रेरणा निकलती है तभी दरवाजा खटखटाने की आवाज़ आती है।

प्रेरणा दरवाजा खोलती है। दरवाजे पर एक युवा और 4- 5 तगड़े लोग खड़े थे। उनको देखकर प्रेरणा डर जाती है और दौड़ती हुई जाकर मां के पल्लू में छिप जाती है।

वह युवा कोई और नहीं बल्कि प्रेरणा का पति है। बाद में पता चलता है कि वह प्रेरणा को साथ ले जाने की जिद्द लेकर आए हैं। सारे कायदे- कानूनों का होम करके प्रेरणा पर अपना हक़ जताने आए हैं। प्रेरणा के पिता और उसके ससुराल वालों में बातों की झड़प चलती रहती है। सब बातों से अनजान प्रेरणा इनके झगड़े से मासूम बच्ची सहम जाती है।

पिता अपने जिद्द पर अड़े रहते हैं और प्रेरणा की शिक्षा पूर्ति के पश्चात ही उससे ससुराल भेजने की ठान लेते हैं। प्रेरणा बचपन से युवा अवस्था तक इसी आतंकी स्थिति का सामना करती रहती है। युवा अवस्था में आते- आते उसे यह पता चलता है कि उसका विवाह बचपन में ही हुआ है, परंतु अपने पति के प्रति उसकी कोई भावनाएं नहीं है। भावविहीन संबंध को परिवार और समाज के विरुद्ध जाकर वह ठुकराती है।

प्रतिभावान प्रेरणा को शिक्षा पूर्ति के पश्चात जब ससुराल भेजने की तैयारी होती है तब वह अपने अधिकारों की मांग करती है। “मां मैं इस शादी को नहीं मानती हूं। मां सिर्फ धागा बांध देने से भावनाओं की डोर नहीं बंध जाती है।।”

प्रेरणा की बातें मां के सीने में तीर के भांति प्रहार करते रहते हैं।

“बेटी तुमारे पिताजी ने उनके भाई की शादी उसके मर्जी के खिलाफ़ जाकर करवाई थी। तुमारे चाचा ने भी भाई का मान रखते हुए उफ तक नहीं किया। तुमारी शादी चाचा के मर्जी पर हुई है। इसीलिए हमने तब कुछ न कहा और नाही अब कहेंगे। और वैसे भी शादी- ब्याह तो नसीब का खेल है। तुमारे नसीब में नरेश था सो मिल गया।”

“मां मैं ऐसे नसीब को नहीं मानती, जो एक मासूम बच्ची के साथ अन्याय करता हो। किसी की गलती को नसीब का हवाला देना गुनाह ही होता है। मैं किसी भी हाल में इस शादी को स्वीकार नहीं करुंगी। चाहे जीवनभर मुझे इस न्याय परक परिवर्तन की पीड़ा सहन करनी पड़े।

मां नि:शब्द होकर बेटी को देखती जा रही थी। ना जाने इसका यह विद्रोह कौनसा तूफ़ान या परिवर्तन लेकर आएगा?? इस सोच में वह डूबी रही।

Some wounds were turning green again after so many years, when Prerna is giving interview as a collector. Anchor asks her “Why have you broken your marital relationship?? That is, is authority more important than relationships in your life??

She was engrossed in the thought that perhaps she had got this position as a result of the rebellion. The past from which she was getting rid of and moving forward, that wound kept hitting again and again. Sometimes under the guise of religion and sometimes society, the arrows of taunts kept going on its rebellion.

Prerna’s life had blossomed by doing penance in the fire of struggle. Prerna an innocent girl gets entangled in family policies and turns away from the heavenly life of childhood. At the age of jumping, Prerna is married off to a boy who is twenty years older than her.

On one condition that he will be sent to his in-laws’ house as soon as he completes his higher education. Unaware of all these things, Prerna continues to lead a mind-free life. In his childhood, the thread of mangalsutra is tied around his neck.

Prerna, who returned from school, asks her mother. “Mother, why is this thread tied around my neck not around my friend’s? Roshan Kaki was saying, “I am married. It doesn’t suit me to play and jump. Bolo na maa”. Why can’t I play?”

Mother explains to her 10-year-old innocent daughter “My Gudiya Rani is different from all the girls. You are lucky girl Rani who has got the fortune of Suhagan at such a young age.”

Nothing beats inspiration. She takes the doll and goes to play. In the evening, Prerna comes out to go to the temple with her father, only then there is the sound of knocking on the door.

Prerna opens the door. A young man and 4-5 bodybuilders were standing at the door. Seeing them, Prerna gets scared and runs away and hides in her mother’s pallu.

The young man is none other than Prerna’s husband. It is later revealed that he has come up with the stubbornness to take Prerna along. By following all the rules and regulations, they have come to assert their right on Prerna. There is a tussle between Prerna’s father and her in-laws. Unaware of everything, Prerna, an innocent girl, gets scared due to their quarrel.

The father sticks to his insistence and decides to send her to her in-laws’ house only after completing Prerna’s education. Prerna continues to face this terror situation from childhood to youth. At a young age, she learns that she has been married as a child, but has no feelings for her husband. She rejects the emotionless relationship by going against the family and the society.

When the talented Prerna is ready to be sent to her in-laws’ house after completing her education, she demands her rights. “Mother, I do not believe in this marriage. Mother, just tying a thread does not tie the strings of feelings.”

The words of inspiration keep hitting the mother like an arrow in her chest.

“Daughter, your father got his brother married against his wishes. Your uncle didn’t even do it keeping the brother’s respect. And anyway, marriage is a game of luck. There was a king in your luck, so got it.”

“Mother, I do not believe in such luck, who does injustice to an innocent child. It is a crime to attribute someone’s mistake to luck. I will not accept this marriage under any circumstances. Even if I have to do this justice for the rest of my life. You have to bear the pain of change.

The mother was silently looking at the daughter. Don’t know what storm or change will this rebellion bring? She was immersed in this thought.
