शूटिंग में असली नोट
भगवान दादा अपने हिसाब से ही सारे काम करते थे। ऐसे में कहा जाता है कि एक बार उन्होंने शूटिंग सेट पर नोटों की बारिश करवा दी थी। दरअसल, आज तक की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक फिल्म के एक सीन में पैसों की बारिश दिखानी थी। ऐसे में भगवान दादा ने इस सीन के लिए असली नोटों का इस्तेमाल किया था।
बता दें कि इस फिल्म के प्रोड्यूसर खुद भगवान दादा थे। भगवान दादा के बारे में ये भी कहा जाता है कि वो कारों के बहुत शौकीन थे। उनके पास 7 कारें थीं और वो हर दिन अलग कार से शूटिंग सेट पर जाते थे। वहीं ‘शेवरले’ फिल्म में भी काम उन्होंने सिर्फ अपने कार के लिए प्रेम की वजह से किया था।
ललिता पवार को जड़ा था थप्पड़
ललिता पवार की बॉयोग्राफी ‘द मिसिंग स्टोरी ऑफ ललिता पवार’ में भी भगवान दादा से जुड़ा एक किस्सा है। दरअसल, 1934 में रिलीज हुई फिल्म ‘हिम्मत-ए-मर्दा’ के एक सीन में भगवान दादा को ललिता पवार को थप्पड़ मारना था और भगवान दादा ने उन्हें ऐसा थप्पड़ रसीदा कि वो वो डेढ़ दिन तक कोमा में रही थीं। इतना ही नहीं एक्ट्रेस की दाहिनी आंख इस कारण से छोटी हो गई थी। वहीं इसके बाद से ही ललिता ने निगेटिव रोल करना शुरू किया था, हालांकि भगवान दादा को ताउम्र इस बात का शिकवा रहा था।
डगलस फेयरबैंक के थे फैन
भगवान दादा के बारे में कहा जाता है कि वो हॉलीवुड अभिनेता डगलस फेयरबैंक के बहुत बड़े फैन थे। डगलस से इंस्पायर होकर ही भगवान दादा भी खुद अपने एक्शन सीन्स करते थे, न कि बॉडी डबल का इस्तेमाल करते थे। कहते हैं कि उनके द्वारा किए गए स्टंट इतने असली लगते थे कि राज कपूर तो उन्हें इंडियन डगलस कहकर पुकारते थे।
भगवान के लिए मुझे छोड़ दो
भगवान दादा अपने हरफनमौला अंदाज के लिए भी जाने जाते थे। अमर उजाला की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक एक इंटरव्यू में भगवान दादा से पूछा गया था कि उन्हें अपनी जिंदगी में सबसे ज्यादा खुशी कब होती है या हुई है? इस पर उन्होंने कहा था, “मुझे सबसे ज्यादा खुशी उस वक्त होती है जिस वक्त कोई विलेन फिल्म में किसी हीरोइन की इज्जत लूटने की कोशिश करता है। और वो चिल्लाती है ‘छोड़ो मुझे, छोड़ो मुझे, भगवान के लिए मुझे छोड़ दो।’ जब मैं ये सुनता हूं तो मुझे बहुत अच्छा लगता है।”
आर्थिक तंगी से भी जूझे
एक वक्त अपनी अमीरी के लिए जाने जाने अभिनेता भगवान दादा के जीवन में एक ऐसा भी वक्त आया, जब उन्हें आर्थिक तंगी झेलनी पड़ी। फिल्म हंसते रहना को बनाने के लिए भगवान दादा ने अपनी सारी दौलत लगा दी थी लेकिन किसी वजह से ये फिल्म कभी पूरी हो ही नहीं पाई।
कहा जाता है कि अपने नखरों से किशोर कुमार ने फिल्म के निर्माण को बहुत नुकसान पहुंचाया और इसे बंद करना पड़ा। इसके अलावा धीरे- धीरे जब भगवान दादा का करियर ढलने लगा तो जुहू स्थित उनका 25 कमरों वाला बंगला, सातों गाड़ियां सहित अन्य काफी चीजें बेंचनी पड़ीं और दादर में 2 कमरे वाली चॉल में रहने लगे।
खूब निभाया हवलदार पांडू का किरदार
अपने करियर में भगवान दादा ने जहां मेन लीड किए तो वहीं मुंशी, सचिव, एक्टर, कैदी, कुक, बारटेंडर, डांसर, यात्री, शराब बेचने वाला, ट्रेन मास्टर, कव्वाल, डकैत जैसे मामूली रोल भी करने पड़े। अपने सिनेमाई करियर में भगवान दादा ने हवलदार पांडू का किरदार खूब निभाया।
