शिक्षक गुरुदेव बरेठ मूलतः जांजगीर जिले के हैं। उनकी शिक्षा कोरबा जिले में हुई है। वे गणित विषय के शिक्षक हैं। पूर्व में कोरबा जिले में निजी स्कूलों में शिक्षक रहे। वर्तमान में जांजगीर जिले के आरसमेटा गोपालनगर स्थिति न्यूवोको प्लांट द्वारा संचालित स्कूल में मैथ्स टीचर हैं। गुरुदेव बरेठ का केबीसी में चयन प्ले अलॉन्ग शुक्रवार के लिए हुआ था। शुक्रवार 26 अगस्त को इस एपिसोड का प्रसारण हुआ।
गुरुदेव बरेठ ने बिग बी अमिताभ बच्चन के सवालों का जवाब देने के साथ ही रोमांचक तरिके से गेम खेला। उन्होंने 9 सवालों का आसानी से जवाब दिया। दसवें प्रश्न पर ऑडिन्स पोल की पहली लाइफ लाइन ली। इसके बाद ग्यारहवें सवाल का भी जवाब आसानी से दे दिया। लेकिन 12 लाख 50 हजार रुपए के लिए पूछे गए 12 वें सवाल में उलझ गए।
इस सवाल का जवाब पाने के लिए बची हुई 2 लाइफ लाइन ले ली, लेकिन मन में दुविधा बनी रही और आख़िरकार गेम छोड़ दिया। इस तरह गुरुदेव बरेठ ने 11 सवालों का सही जवाब देकर 6 लाख 40 हजार की प्राइज मनी जीती। छत्तीसगढ़ से माया नगरी पहुंचे गुरुदेव बरेठ ने खेल के दौरान बिग बी से कई रोचक चर्चा भी की।
उन्होंने छत्तीसगढ़ के संदर्भ में जानकारी देते हुए कहा कि लोगों के मन में यह धारणा है कि छत्तीसगढ़ नक्सली इलाका है, और वहाँ काफ़ी अशांति है, लेकिन ऐसा नहीं है। छत्तीसगढ़ शांत प्रदेश है। एल्यूमिनियम, बिजली, कोयला सब कुछ छत्तीसगढ़ में है।
गुरुदेव बरेठ ने यह भी कहा कि वें हर सीजन में प्ले अलॉन्ग खेलते रहे लेकिन उनका चयन इस बार हुआ। उन्होंने कहा कि प्राइज मनी से ज्यादा महत्व उनके लिए सदी के महानायक अमिताभ बच्चन का ओटोग्राफ है।
मैथ्स को बताया दिलचस्प सब्जेक्ट
गुरुदेव बरेठ ने गेम शो के दौरान बिग बी के साथ गणित विषय के संदर्भ में भी चर्चा की। उन्होंने गणित को प्यारा और तार्किक विषय बताते हुए कहा कि यह वन टाइम इन्वेस्टमेंट है।गणित में एक बार जो समझ लिया वह जिंदगीभर याद रहेगा। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि गणित विषय को लेकर बेवजह बच्चों के मन में डर भर दिया जाता है। जबकि असल में यह सिखने के लिए सबसे दिलचस्प विषय है।
