कहा जाता है कि पीएन ओक अपनी हिंदू विचारधारा इतिहास को दोबारा लिखने के लिए जाने जाते हैं। उन्होंने केवल ताजमहल पर ही नहीं, बल्कि फतेहपुर सीकरी और कई विषयों पर किताबें लिखी। खास बात है कि ताजमहल पर उस दौरान उनकी लिखी हुई किताब पर कांग्रेस सरकार ने प्रतिबंध लगा दिया था। इस किताब में उन्होंने अपनी बात को साबित करने के लिए कई पुरातत्व और साहित्यिक सबूत पेश किए हैं।
पत्रकार और इतिहासकार भी रहे प्रोफेसर ओक को लेकर यह भी कहा जाता है कि इतिहास को लेकर किए गए शोध ने उनकी स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी वाली छवि को कमजोर कर दिया था। एक पुराने इंटरव्यू में ओक कहते हैं, ‘मैं नेताजी के साथ था। मैं INA में लेफ्टिनेंट था। मैं नेताजी के पास दूसरे नंबर के मेजर जनरल जेके भोंसले का निजी सचिव और एडीसी था। मैं जनरल भोंसले के साथ सिंगापुर, मलय, बर्मा में था।’

भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नेता रजनीश सिंह की तरफ से इलाहबाद हाईकोर्ट में याचिका दायर की गई थी। उन्होंने एक फैक्ट फाइंडिंग कमेटी गठित करने और भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण की तरफ से रिपोर्ट दाखिल किए जाने की मांग की। याचिका में यह कहा गया था कि बंद दरवाजों के पीछे हिंदू देवता बंद हैं। भाजपा सांसद दिया कुमारी ने भी दावा किया था कि जिस जमीन पर ताज महल बना है, वह जयपुर के शाही राजघराने की है।
