लखनऊ | [कोर्ट बुलेटिन] | यहां की एमपी/ एमएलए अदालत ने बॉलीवुड अभिनेता और कांग्रेस नेता राज बब्बर को 1996 के चुनाव में एक मतदान अधिकारी के साथ मारपीट के मामले में दो साल कैद की सजा सुनाई। उनके खिलाफ मतदान केंद्र में घुसकर मतदान प्रभावित करने और पोलिंग एजेंट से दुर्व्यवहार मामले में एफआईआर दर्ज कराई गई थी।
पूर्व सांसद और वरिष्ठ कांग्रेसी नेता राज बब्बर को 26 साल पुराने मामले में 3 साल की सजा सुनाई गई है। एमपी एमएलए कोर्ट ने उन्हें विधानसभा चुनाव में मतदान अधिकारी व अन्य से मारपीट समेत अन्य मामलों में दोषी ठहराते हुए 6500 रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया है। तब वे सपा के प्रत्याशी थी। इस मामले में आरोपी रहे अरविंद सिंह यादव की केस के दौरान ही मृत्यु हो गई थी।
विशेष एसीजेएम अंबरीष कुमार श्रीवास्तव ने अलग-अलग धाराओं में राज बब्बर को 6 माह की सजा व 1000 रुपये का जुर्माना, दो साल की सजा व 4 हजार का जुर्माना, एक वर्ष की कैद व एक हजार का जुर्माना, छह माह की कैद व 500 रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया। सभी सजाएं एक साथ चलेंगी। जुर्माना न देने पर उन्हें 15 दिन और जेल में काटने होंगे।
फर्जी मतदान का आरोप लगाकर की थी मारपीट
पूर्व सांसद राज बब्बर को वर्ष 1996 में विधानसभा चुनाव के दौरान मतदान अधिकारी व अन्य से मारपीट समेत कई मामलों में दो साल की सजा सुनाई गई है। सरकारी वकील सोनू सिंह के अनुसार 2 मई 1996 को मतदान अधिकारी श्रीकृष्ण सिंह राणा ने वजीरगंज थाने में तत्कालीन सपा प्रत्याशी राज बब्बर, अरविंद यादव व अन्य के खिलाफ रिपोर्ट दर्ज कराई थी।
आरोप लगाया कि जब मतदाताओं का आना बंद हो गया तो वे खाना खाने जा रहे थे। तभी सपा प्रत्याशी राज बब्बर साथियों के साथ आए और फर्जी मतदान का झूठा आरोप लगाने लगे। उन लोगों ने वादी एवं शिव कुमार सिंह को मारा पीटा, जिससे उन्हें चोट आई। उन्हें मतदान अधिकारी मनोज कुमार श्रीवास्तव के अलावा वीके शुक्ला एवं पुलिसवालों ने बचाया। पुलिस ने 23 सितंबर 1996 को राज बब्बर व अरविंद यादव के खिलाफ चार्जशीट पेश की।
कोर्ट ने 24 वर्ष बाद 7 मार्च 2020 को राज बब्बर के खिलाफ आरोप तय किए। श्रीकृष्ण सिंह राणा, शिव कुमार सिंह, मनोज श्रीवास्तव, चंद्र दास साहू, डॉ. एमएस कालरा ने गवाही दी। राज बब्बर ने 10 मई 2022 को कोर्ट में खुद को निर्दोष बताया, लेेकिन कोई साक्ष्य देने से इनकार कर दिया।
Raj Babbar jailed for 2 years for a crime committed 26 years ago
Lucknow | [Court Bulletin] | The MP/MLA court here sentenced Bollywood actor and Congress leader Raj Babbar to two years’ imprisonment for assaulting a polling officer in the 1996 elections. An FIR was lodged against him for influencing voting by entering the polling booth and misbehaving with the polling agent.
Former MP and senior Congress leader Raj Babbar has been sentenced to 3 years in a 26-year-old case. The MP MLA Court has also imposed a fine of Rs 6500, holding him guilty in other cases including assault on the polling officer and others in the assembly elections. She was SP candidate then. Arvind Singh Yadav, who was an accused in this case, died during the case itself.
Special ACJM Ambareesh Kumar Srivastava sentenced Raj Babbar to 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 1000 rupees, two years imprisonment and 4 thousand fine, one year imprisonment and 1000 fine, six months imprisonment and 500 rupees in different sections. Imposed a fine of Rs. All the sentences will run concurrently. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve 15 more days in jail.
Was beaten up on the allegation of fake voting
Former MP Raj Babbar has been sentenced to two years in jail in 1996 in several cases including assaulting a polling officer and others during the assembly elections. According to public prosecutor Sonu Singh, on May 2, 1996, polling officer Shri Krishna Singh Rana had lodged a report against the then SP candidate Raj Babbar, Arvind Yadav and others at Wazirganj police station.
Alleged that when voters stopped coming, they were going to have food. Then SP candidate Raj Babbar came along with his colleagues and started making false allegations of fake voting. They beat up the plaintiff and Shiv Kumar Singh, due to which they got hurt. Apart from polling officer Manoj Kumar Srivastava, he was rescued by VK Shukla and policemen. On 23 September 1996, the police presented a charge sheet against Raj Babbar and Arvind Yadav.
The court framed charges against Raj Babbar after 24 years on 7 March 2020. Shri Krishna Singh Rana, Shiv Kumar Singh, Manoj Shrivastava, Chandra Das Sahu, Dr. MS Kalra testified. Raj Babbar pleaded innocent in court on 10 May 2022, but refused to give any evidence.
