नई दिल्ली | [नेशनल बुलेटिन] | जीन में बदलाव के कारण बच्चे की लंबाई प्रभावित हो सकती है। इस सब्जेक्ट को लेकर सर गंगा राम अस्पताल के इंस्टीट्यूट ऑ़फ जेनेटिक्स एंड जेनोमिक्स ने असामान्य रूप से कम लंबाई के बच्चों पर एक शोध किया गया।
ऐसे 455 बच्चों पर किए अध्ययन में एक जनवरी 2017 से 31 अक्टूबर 2018 के बीच 22 महीने में आए बच्चों को शामिल किया गया। इनकी उम्र 10 महीने से 16 वर्ष तक की थी।
शोध में यह सामने आया
अध्ययन के संबंध में इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल जेनेटिक्स एंड जीनोमिक्स की चेयरपर्सन ने कहा कि शोध में हमने ऐसे बच्चे जिनमें अन्य कारणों के अलावा लंबाई का असामान्य रूप से छोटा होना एक कारण था, उनमें जेनेटिक कारणों का पता लगाने की कोशिश की।

उन्होंने कहा कि जीन में खराबी के कारण बच्चों के शरीर का विकास रुक जाता है। शोध में पाया गया कि लक्षण एवं शारीरिक परीक्षण के आधार इसका कारण पता लगाया जा सकता है। शोध में 65 फीसदी बच्चों में असामान्य कम लंबाई का कारण क्लीनिकल परीक्षण द्वारा पता किए गए।
अन्य में उनके क्लीनिकल प्रोफाइल के हिसाब से अतिरिक्त जेनेटिक टेस्ट कराए गए। इसमें पता चला कि लंबाई का उतार-चढ़ाव सामान्य रूप से परिवार से मिले जीन से होता है, लेकिन असामान्य रूप से कम लंबाई का कारण बच्चे के जीन में बदलाव हो सकता है।
अगर परिवार के अंदर बच्चे में असामान्य रूप से लंबाई छोटी हो और शरीर का विकास धीमी गति से हो रहा हो तो डॉक्टर की राय लेनी जरूरी है।
