Appreciating the hard work of the judges of the Delhi High Court, he said, “The judges work in the chamber till 7-8 pm. They come in the morning (and) they work till 8 pm. Sometimes 9 am. Baj jaye jaye hai. I was surprised. Normally, in other places, judges leave by 4 o’clock.” He said that in his days, though there were some “old PILs”, lawyers were “disciplined”.
Not facing opposition is a big achievement
The CJI said, “I never got an opportunity to face any strike or any dharna or anything. This is the biggest achievement because some had warned me earlier that you are going to Delhi, you should prepare for dharna and strike. It should be done. It has never happened.”
