नई दिल्ली | [नेशनल बुलेटिन] | देश के पहले सरकारी 5 सितारा होटल, अशोक होटल को केंद्र की नारेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने निजी हाथों में सौंपने की तैयारी कर ली है। इस संबंध में तैयार किए गए प्रपोजल के अनुसार, मोदी सरकार अब अशोक होटल को 60 वर्षों के लिए ऑपरेट- मेनटेन- डेवलप (OMD) मॉडल के तहत पट्टे पर देगी। साथ ही इस होटल की अतिरिक्त 6.3 एकड़ जमीन को व्यावसायिक उद्देश्यों के लिए बेचा जाएगा।
बिजनेस स्टैंडर्ड की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, भारत में यूनेस्को सम्मलेन के लिए 1960 के दशक में इस होटल का निर्माण कराया गया था। तब इसे बनाने पर 3 करोड़ रुपये खर्च हुए थे।
11 एकड़ में फैला अशोक होटल देश का पहला फाइव स्टार सरकारी होटल था। इसमें 550 कमरे, करीब 2 लाख वर्ग फुट रिटेल एंड ऑफिस स्पेस, 30,000 वर्ग फुट बैंक्वेंट और कॉन्फ्रेंस फैसिलिटीज तथा 25,000 वर्ग फुट में फैले 8 रेस्तरां शामिल हैं।

अशोक होटल का मालिकाना हक आईटीडीसी (ITDC) के पास है। सरकार के प्रपोजल के अनुसार, प्राइवेट पार्टनर इस होटल का विकास नए सिरे से करा सकता है। दावा किया जा रहा है कि इसे दुनिया के जाने-माने हेरिटेज होटलों की तर्ज पर विकसित किया जाएगा।
नए सिरे से इसका विकास पर 450 करोड़ रुपये का खर्च आने का अनुमान है। यही नहीं, होटल के पास ही जो 6.3 एकड़ अतिरिक्त जमीन है उस पर 600 से 700 प्रीमियम सर्विस अपार्टमेंट बनाए जाएंगे। इनसे डिजाइन- बिल्ड- फाइनेंस- ऑपरेट एंड ट्रांसफर मॉडल के जरिए कमाई होगी।

According to a report in Business Standard, the hotel was built in the 1960s for the UNESCO convention in India. Then Rs 3 crore was spent on making it.
The Ashok Hotel, spread over 11 acres, was the first five star government hotel in the country. It includes 550 rooms, approximately 2 lakh sq ft of retail and office space, 30,000 sq ft of banquet and conference facilities and 8 restaurants spread over 25,000 sq ft.

Ashok Hotel is owned by ITDC. According to the proposal of the government, the private partner can develop this hotel anew. It is being claimed that it will be developed on the lines of well-known heritage hotels of the world.
It is estimated to cost Rs 450 crore on its development afresh. Not only this, 600 to 700 premium service apartments will be built on the additional 6.3 acres of land near the hotel itself. It will generate revenue through a design-build-finance-operate and transfer model.
