परिचय– मुजफ्फरपुर, बिहार

उसने आँखों में झाँका! कोई ज़रूरत रही होगी,
मुझ ही को किया याद! कोई तो बात रही होगी।

धोखा ही दिया, जब दिया हाथ उठा के कभी,
ज़िन्दगी भर में उसकी यही फ़ितरत रही होगी।

पीठ पे वार तो सीखा था उसने बचपन में,
पूरी खानदान की बस यही औक़ात रही होगी।

वो मौके पे घर से निकल कर नहीं आया,
दिल में कहीं कोई बड़ी बात रही होगी।

भरी महफ़िल में बैठा था वो तन्हा तन्हा,
शायद ज़हन में कोई वारदात रही होगी।

उसने दामन में कुछ छिपा लिया ‘केसर’,
शायद, कोई महँगी सौगात रही होगी।

He looked into his eyes! there must have been a need,
Remember me only! Something must have happened.

Been deceived, when ever you raise your hand,
This would have been his nature throughout his life.

He had learned to hit the back in his childhood,
This would have been the only tool of the whole family.

He did not come out of the house on the spot,
There must have been some big thing in the heart.

He was sitting alone in a crowded gathering,
Maybe there must have been some incident in the mind.

He hid something ‘saffron’ in his arm,
Perhaps, there must have been an expensive gift.
