शौंकिया हम जो उसकी महफ़िल में जा बैठे

अपने इस दिल को लाइलाज रोग लगा बैठे

बहारें आई कई बार और आकर चली गयी

हम पतझड़ को ही अपना साया बना बैठे

जो कुछ कहे उनसे कैसे कहे है बड़ी मुश्किल

अपने ही सवालों का बोझ हम तो उठा बैठे

एक ही खता हुई हमसे और वो ये है हुज़ूर

हम आप से आपकी महफ़िल से दिल लगा बैठे

कारगर है ये नुस्खा सोचा दिल लगाने का

शमा के पास क्या पहुंचे हम खुद को जला बैठे

मैं भी जो चला उस रस्ते कोई नई बात तो नहीं

कितने ही इस राह पर मुझसे पहले खुद को लुटा बैठे

‘ग़ुलाम’ को समझने वाला कोई न मिला

आखिर तुम फिर क्यूँ उसके रस्ते में जा बैठे

बेमकसद पीछा करते हो अंधेरों में साये का

ऐसे ही खुद अंधेरों में अंधेरों से टकरा बैठे  ….
