Ganesh Tattva – Ganesha is ‘Achintya’, ‘Avyakt’ and ‘Ananta’ i.e. beyond thought, beyond manifestation, eternal and omnipresent. Ganesha is described as unborn nirvikalpam formless. This means that Ganesha is never born.

Lord Ganesha wrote the Mahabharata on Vyasa’s words on the condition that there should be no obstruction in his dictation. The dictation went on for months so that by then Ganeshji was convinced that it was not the scholarship that Vyasji had created in his mind; He was manifesting through the universe with consciousness. Ganesha is a symbol of human intelligence. It is very appropriate symbolically because it is the nature of your intelligence.

1. One Teeth: Ganesha is called a dent because he is the symbol of only one ‘Zed Consciousness’.

2. Vighnaharta: The importance of Ganesha is that he is considered to be the remover of all obstacles. The big head on their body is also considered very intelligent and balanced. If your mind is sharp and balanced, then there is no obstacle in your life.

3.Durva – We dedicate our worries to Ganesha in the form of Durva grass.

4. Lunar Rashi: The Moon sign appears to be smiling at Ganesha as he tries to do ‘Sastanga Dand Pranam’ to his parents. Here the Moon represents the mind – your awareness of smiling at the mind is an explanation that you know yourself that your mind is no longer dominating your mind.

5. Consciousness/Awareness: When there is awareness – the cobra snake is a symbol of great alertness which is seen on the belly of Ganesha. When there is inertia, there is no knowledge, no power in life, no progress in life.

6. Lotus: He has a lotus in one hand, which is a symbol of knowledge. In the other hand he holds an axe. That is, when knowledge comes, old karma, all your sanskars, accumulated good and bad karma of past karmas are cut off.

7. Abhaya Mudra: The raised hand of Ganesha (in ‘Abhay’ mudra, depicting protection) means ‘Don’t be afraid – I am with you’.

Ganesha is not outside of us, but the center of our life. After a few days of worship, the ritual of immersing the idols reinforces the understanding that the Lord is not in the idol, He is within us. The symbolic essence of Ganesh Chaturthi festival is to awaken the element of Ganesha which is also hidden within us.
