नई दिल्ली | [कोर्ट बुलेटिन] | सोमवार को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में केंद्र सरकार ने बड़ी बात कही है। केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में कहा है कि उसने देशद्रोह कानून के प्रावधानों पर पुनर्विचार करने और जांच का फैसला लिया है।
सुप्रीम कोर्ट में दाखिल हलफनामे में सरकार ने कहा है कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के दृष्टिकोण में जब कि देश की आजादी के 75 साल पूरे हो रहे हैं, गुलामी के समय में बने देशद्रोह के कानून पर पुनर्विचार करने की जरूरत है। इसमें कहा गया है, ‘देशद्रोह कानून को लेकर जताई जाने वाली आपत्ति का भारत सरकार को ज्ञान है। कई बार मानवाधिकार को लेकर भी सवाल उठाए चजाते हैं। हालांकि इसका उद्देश्य देश की संप्रभुता और अखंडता को अक्षुण्य रखना होना चाहिए।’
एफिडेविट में आगे कहा गया, अब समय आ गया है कि आईपीसी की धारा 124A के प्रावधानों पर पुनर्विचार किया जाए। केंद्र ने कहा कि जांच की प्रक्रिया के दौरान सुप्रीम कोर्ट से अपील है कि वह इस कानून की वैधता की जांच करने में समय जाया न करे। बता दें कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट में कई याचिकाएं दाखिल करके औपनिवेशिक काल में बनाए गए कानूनों की जांच करने की बात कही गई थी। सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में इसी का जवाब दाखिल किया है।
इससे पहले सरकार ने यह भी कहा था कि इस कानून की समीक्षा की जरूरत नहीं है। केंद्र सरकार ने शीर्ष अदालत से अपील की थी कि देशद्रोह कानून के खिलाफ दी गई अर्जियों को रद्द कर दिया जाए। बताते चलें कि देशद्रोह कानून के खिलाफ याचिका देने वालों में एडिटर्स गिल्ड ऑफ इंडिया, टीएमसी सांसद महुआ मोइत्रा भी शामिल हैं।

It said, ‘The Government of India is aware of the objections raised to the sedition law. Sometimes questions are raised about human rights as well. However, its aim should be to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The affidavit further said, “The time has come to reconsider the provisions of section 124A of the IPC. The Center said that during the process of investigation, there is an appeal to the Supreme Court not to waste time in checking the validity of this law. Let us inform that by filing several petitions in the Supreme Court, it was asked to investigate the laws made during the colonial period. The government has filed its reply in the Supreme Court.
Earlier, the government had also said that there is no need to review this law. The central government had appealed to the apex court to quash the applications against the sedition law. Let us inform that among those who petitioned against the sedition law, Editors Guild of India, TMC MP Mahua Moitra are also included.
